Accessories are items that can be equipped on units and heroes. By default, normal land units have 1 accessory slot and heroes have 2, but this can be increased by 1 with the Meritocratic Promotion technology. All heroes also have a skill in their Class Skill Tree that increases the number of accessory slots again by 1, for a maximum of 4. There are also certain accessories that can only be equipped by heroes, such as those with the Tome or Insignia type.
Naval units have a special type of accessory called Officers that provide their own bonuses. Unlike other units, naval units have a default of 1 or 2 slots, and this amount cannot be increased. Additionally, officers do not come in tiers, making the officers of a given strategic resource available as soon as any tier of accessory for that resource is available.
As with weapons and armor, all Tier 1 Iron accessories are available at the start of the game, and further Iron and Dust accessories are unlocked by progressing into further technological Eras. The other standard accessories can be unlocked by getting the associated Technology from research or as a reward from Quests, and are shown below:
Tier | Technology | |
---|---|---|
/ | 1 | Advanced Armor |
/ | 2 | Alchemical Armor |
/ | 3 | Exotic Armor |
/ | 1 | Uncommon Armor |
/ | 2 | Marvelous Armor |
/ | 3 | Exceptional Armor |
/ | 1 | Rare Armor |
/ | 2 | Puissant Armor |
/ | 3 | Arcane Armor |
There are also a handful of unique accessories that are acquired by other means, such as quests or blessings.
